Would it be in poor taste to wear a dress to a wedding that is in a similar style to the bride?
OK, my brother is getting married in 2 weeks. His fiancee (the bride) sent me a link with pictures of her wedding dress several months ago. I thought it was gorgeous when I saw the pictures, but kinda forgot what it looked like as time went by…… In the meantime, I bought a dress for myself to wear to the wedding. I absolutely love the dress I bought, but I am now in a dilemma… I revisted the pictures of the bride’s wedding dress, and realized that the dress I just bought for me to wear is very similar to her wedding dress! Wow, people are being really mean and inconsiderate about this question. Lots are talking about ‘not wearing white’ at this wedding. THE DRESS IS RED. God, some people are stupid.
Anyway, I personally think that the dress is different enough so that you won’t be upstaging her. The bodice and necklines are different, as are the hems. Plus, you probably don’t have the same body shape as her, so when you both are wearing your dresses, they will be distinguished simply by the way the dress fits to your bodies.
Don’t worry about people accusing you of being ‘mean’ or ‘rude’, you’re obviously considerate of her feelings, no one who didn’t care would go to the trouble to ask the question.
